Overview
About Croaker
West African croakers are drums of soft bottom coastal waters and estuaries from Senegal to Angola. They have white, flaky, mild flesh with moderate fat, well suited to frying, grilling and pepper soup.
Industrial trawlers and artisanal canoes in Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon and neighbouring states supply most of the catch, with Senegal shipping fresh and frozen fish via Dakar. Nigeria is the main consuming market, and frozen croaker is also sold to African diaspora buyers in Europe.
