Overview
About Pink Shrimp
Penaeus notialis is a wild penaeid shrimp of sandy and muddy bottoms, with juveniles growing in lagoons and estuaries before moving offshore. It has firm, sweet meat and a pale pink shell that brightens when cooked.
Nigeria and Senegal account for most of the catch, taken by industrial shrimp trawlers and by artisanal fishers in estuaries. Most export product is frozen on board and sold to Spain, Portugal, France and other European markets for boiling, grilling and rice dishes.
