Overview
About silver pomfret
Silver pomfret is a wild caught fish of coastal waters with soft, sandy bottoms. Its firm, white and finely textured flesh has a mild flavour, and it is almost always sold whole.
Larger fish command much higher prices, so accurate size grading is essential. India’s Gujarat coast, especially Veraval and Porbandar, is a major source, alongside Pakistan, Bangladesh and the northern Gulf.
